Is this the thread? I don't know. It's one like it anyway, so here's my current bemusement (I.e. it doesn't anger me!)
The way 'to be fair' is used by some people these days is baffling I find. What follows it can either be anything but fair, or have nothing to do with being fair or unfair. On the latter, maybe that's the point. It's an attempt to preempt criticism of any perceived negativity by saying something and labelling it 'fair'.
Do I blame football commentators/pundits? To be fair, I've just had porridge for breakfast.
