The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
No plastic lids anymore on tubs of cottage cheese - just foil. Easily damaged in your trolley, and no cover when opened in the fridge. Cling film or foil is just a PITA. I've got a few lids I kept and reuse but they won't last forever.

...which is another thing that annoys me: the lack of plug sockets in Victorian houses. didn't they have forward thinking in them days?!
I live in a 70s flat. Lounge had a single and two doubles. Used converters, now have a double, a triple, and a quad. Bedroom also had two singles, now two doubles. Not long after we moved in, the kitchen was fully refurbished, so made sure they put lots of sockets in.
But being computery, it's not enough!

But .... you've just used less single use plastic, which is a good thing.

Yes, it's a good pollution win overall. A minor annoyance, I agree, so very suitable for this thread

(*we do it with yoghurt pots - I thought they would never clip-on nicely at the till - what with being tatty, and almost certainly not all a standard size - but they almost always do. Which is nice.)

... but, when my lids are unusable, the non recyclable foil or clingfilm won't be a good thing. Different brands have slightly different diameter tubs, one size lid doesn't fit all. How about shops selling substantial multi use use lids to fit their containers so that products can be stored safely?

Cheaper alternatives are also available but these ones seem to survive washing and microwaving very well.

This. ^

We’ve also purchased silicone lids from ikea and elsewhere which seal a bowl well. Our use of cling film has fallen enormously

Companies [tesco's today] that say 'contact us' and a phone number. There is no 'contact' because its just another menu of FAQ's leading in a circle. So does 'contact us' now mean the exact opposite in this ****ing Orwellian nightmare!

Other people's spreadsheets.

Some people use weird ways of putting lookups and simple summations together, plus I really hate when people format text (in any type of file) by using spaces and tabs rather than using the various alignment tools. You find you can't sum a spreadsheet apparently full of numbers because there are spaces in the cell, rendering them as text cells.
