anyway of detaching this part of the mudguard without taking the wheel off ?!? such an arkward place underneath lol

If you have a very short allen key you could try letting the tyre down which would give you another inch of space. Why not take the wheel out though. It is only a few seconds job and whilst out you could thoroughly clean the chain and seat stays and bits of frame normally fairly inaccessible.

thanx compo think i will have to remove the wheel good idea about cleaning it too..
my only worry is about putting it all backtogether again never done this sort of thing before but will b a good learning curve for me what do i need to clean the parts with? will pop out tomorrow n get what i need
