Firstly, sorry, I wasn't putting the pictures in to be patronising in any way, just illustration, that's all.

No worries. I just feel for victimised rodents. Mrs EMD wasn't happy when she realised I was feeding the mice that were living in our Edinburgh flat. I felt kind of sorry for them as everybody was trying to kill them!

I'm not surprised Mrs EMD was not happy. There's a place for mice and it's not running free in a house/flat... they'll leave their droppings everywhere, they pee all over the place, they'll chew through your wiring.. insulation, books, fabrics..

Keep us posted Waffles. The second front against the little bastards has been opened chez moi!

Well, the first battle in the war is won. Grey squirrel started gnawing at newly filled bird feeder. Said squirrel lasted a few seconds and left it pronto. It then tried another with same effect. Squirrel b*gg*red off. Haven't seen squirrel again this afternoon. First battle won - the war continues!

OOOH.. the melanistic are *pretty* to look at. Mind you - that has ear tufts like a red and the greys have no ear tufts, so that's probably a melanistic red as opposed to a melanistic grey I would think.

Sounds more like an opening skirmish to me!

So no POWs yet? Not that the Geneva Convention applies...

More likely they're off to get some enchiladas ;)

What's wrong with a decent .22 and a scope?? Far more satisfying  (and you can control the other rats - the pigeons).

I have no problem with the greys being culled - even better if they were culled and their meat eaten.

There is a butcher in Corbridge who sells greys. How do you eat squirrel though, with or without their nuts?
