Fab Foodie
hanging-on in quiet desperation ...
- Location
- Kirton, Devon.
5 weeks ago I set-off on a ride to Taunton and back (~70 miles total), a bit lumpy but as I was accompabnied by a 70 year old on a fully laden tourer it was a gentle affair. I had a mild lower back ache on my LHS (which is not unusual) for which the usual cure is to go for a bike ride.
Half way to Taunton I started to get more back pain and a shooting pain top LHS of my thigh. Stopped for some deep heat and paracetamol and carried-on. By the time we'd stopped for sarnie in Taunton the pain was in several places from my lower back, top LHS of thigh inside edge of calf, painful around the knee.
Called Wimpers to rescue me. By the time she arrived I was getting quite severe spasms in some of those places.
Virtually bed ridden for a few days.
Called - doc - prescribed Diazapam and Ibuprofen - helped and slowly improved.
SawChiropractor Osteopath- helped a bit for a while
2 weeks later called doc again - Codeine and told to keep moving as it will abate...or it may not!
Spasms gone but getting sharp stabbing pains inside the LH thigh, ankle, shin. Surface of skin inside thigh near knee is 'sore' to the touch and very sensitive
SawChiropractor Osteopath- slight improvement....
After the first 2 weeks I could potter around and get stuff done OK, it's painful but I don't need painkillers - at night is another matter whole leg becomes painful, impacting sleep and therefore my mood's also low.
5 weeks later (now) - slight lower back pain, still random stabbing pains which are painful, around knee still painful and skin surface sensitive. Leg doesn't quite feel like it's under control or part of me. If I scratch under my LH rib cage I get a stabbing pain in my knee!
Have a face to face Doc's appt soon.
So nerve-wise somethings a bit fckedup.
Sometimes walking helps, sometimes it doesn't. I do try various stretches too. I have my bike on a turbo for gentle 30 min sessions and sometimes that helps and other times (like yesterday) it becomes far worse.
Starting to really get me down. Don't feel I should be far from home out on the roads in case it all goes a bit wrong and need to be collected again.
Anyone experienced anything similar?
Any thoughts advice?
Hoping the face to face with the Doc will get them to delve deeper rather than pain-relief and keep moving. Getting a little farkedorff.
