I am opening a cafe on the TPT in May. There's clearly a lack of places actually on the trail so hopefully this fun little place will give cyclists and walkers a much needed place to relax and recharge. Will be situated on Woodcote Road at Woodcote Stables near Dunham Massey. There' a place there at the moment which is very under utilised and I aim to make it cycle themed and cycle friendly when I take over in May. I hope this post doesn't come across as an advert. I have avoided linking any web links etc as I merely wanted to contribute to this post. When the place is officially up and running I will post a suitable link on this site to let you all know.

Good luck to you. It won't be easy getting footfall at that point so you'll have your work cut out attracting people. If you wish when you are up and running I can post up in a couple of FB cycle clubs? One is very local but the other is further afield and a good distance away that it would make a decent cafe stop on weekend rides for them.

Try the Child of Hale pub in, err, Hale. I've been there several times and the food has always been good. It's also far enough along the TPT from Lymm that you'll be ready for something to eat.
Having said that, it's still a long way to Southport from there.

.

A question..............do you feel safe on that stretch------as in you are cycling through/near some so-called 'dodgy' areas.
Reason for the question is that I fancy doing it but was a little worried about a long walk back minus my bike

Better than large parts of warrington.

Still part of the team !
I didn't have any worries but then I was in a group.
I think I cycle in parts of MCR that are just as bad; I suppose I just get on with it.
The road bit after the Child of Hale is, I believe, the dodgy bit.

Will you have any signs so that cyclists actually on the trail will realise there is a stop close by ?
By coincidence...........last summer I went Warrington>Manchester>return (hot day)........it was just passed Dunham when I suddenly "bonked". Never happened before or since but oh! how I would have enjoyed a cuppa & cake at that moment.

That bits fine, council estate, but I've ridden through there loads and never a problem. The road surface is shocking though, it's so bad I look forward to the speed bumps.

The "sketchiest" bits are further down the TPT when you are going under the road bridges, there's often a group of "youngsters" down there sheltering from the weather, but they're usually too stoned to care.
