Transcambrian Ride by our roving, raving sports reporter

Yesterday, I can report that some intrepid cyclists cycled 116 hilly miles in what can only be described as 'dry' conditions. Locals accustomed to the area and climactic conditions were left flabbergasted when no precipitation was encountered for the first time since records began.
Until this historic event event the only meaning for the word 'dry' in the Welsh language was the inexplicable non-selling of booze on a Sunday.

Also I have Sunday Mon or Tuesday to do a 200km Audax to complete the last 200 0f a 12 month series (RRTY) if I dont do that my only other opportunity is the 20th which I vaguely remember is pencilled in for something else;)

A long time ago, not recently and not with anywhere near as much climbing.

When I last rode to Machynlleth, it was just over the 100. I was absolutely ****ed.

Could be a forlorn place to visit if there's no good news about April Jones. It may think it's the Welsh capital, but it feels like a big village.

Are we going through that village and surrounding area .

So looks like me and my bro are the only two never to have done 100 before should be fun

We were discussing this in the chatroom tonight. The consensus was (I think) that a few unfit middle-aged blokes out for a jolly on bikes should find an alternative ...
Wasn't it we weren't going to stop there but it's fairly hard to avoid riding through and we'd stop at TallyHo instead.

LD's doing the recce this Saturday, so we'll know.

He's a Chef and has a trailer! I wonder if he could be talked into cooking something tasty for us and hauling it along on the ride. Small stove for heating it up shouldn't be too heavy :heat:

Were still 2 weeks from the ride. I think if Machynlleth is the scheduled place to stop we should stop there as planned. Tragic as it is life has to carry on.
