I am spending a lot of time considering waterproofs / windproofs and my lack thereof...
Times is tough and I can't really afford a new one but the very lightweight articles I have, are likely inadequate for such a ride. The search goes on

I think I have come to a decision on the 'what bike' question and rain or shine, will almost certainly be bringing the Cube.

They re all too busy training rich .

I haven't done anything for nearly two weeks ; on friday night, I was full of good intentions for the next day, but ended up doing nothing at all over last weekend. With a bit of luck, I'll get in a 30 miler this coming weekend; if I can get another ride in the weekend after that, I'll be reasonably happy. Obviously, in an ideal world, I should be cycling more than once a week, but it is still more training than I've ever done.

I might look into getting a turbo trainer . . . . . . . but would I actually use it, or would it just get dusty in the garage ? The latter, I suspect.

I've recently been given a very old set of cycling rollers . . . anyone ever tried them ? (I've not had a go yet)

Save your money! Never tried rollers but I suspect it's only marginally less boring than a turbo, with the novelty of trying to remain upright soon wearing off...

I'm sure someone would be able to lend you a thicker waterproof Ducky. If you only want it for this ride, it seems hardly worth using your hard-earned cash to buy one.

It's ok Rich - I think I need something of a decent quality to get me through the winter. My Altura one is ok for cold commutes but not really suitable for a nice weekend ride when it (hopefully) won't be too cold  Very nearly purchased one at lunchtime, from Wiggle. Still considering my options atm though. How's training going - many reps of the Beacon achieved this morning?

Fitness is on a downhill curve due to various unavoidable commitments, lack of will and injured buddies. I shall endeavour to get a few decent rides in starting from tomorrow though!

LD - have you laid on a mid-way banquet for us? I should probably start planning my eating strategy, for this ride, soon  Am I correct in assuming a pub or cafe has been earmarked, along the route?
