Is anyone else surprised at just how easily Cancellara can sit in the saddle and ride away from the others as if they're second-raters?

Thought that after one TT last season where he was an incredible amount ahead of the other riders.

Still, doesn't pay to be cynical.

John the M and Rich P, it is desperate isn't it.
You watch, you want to be amazed and in the back of your mind you think, am I the World's biggest sucker, how many times do I have to be taken for a ride before I learn? And even if, on balance, you think - "it will be different this time" part of you does not. I watched the final 50km of the Flanders, the first race I have watched for some time (Junkie not kicked the habit !) and I am not sure when I will watch another race.

However let me share with you another moment. Landis was doing his superhuman bit on stage 17 in 2006 as I was driving home after a business appointment. I listened on the radio. Wow this sounds gripping, he could take back the yellow jersey ! So I drove home and arrived back and turned the telly on, literally just to catch Landis crossing the line. Next thing I see is Landis looking like he is about to deck the manager who has come up to congratulate him. After that some security guard steps up to guide him to the podium. Again Landis squares up to him and is about to put him on the deck and has to be physically restrained by the manager. Maybe my memory plays tricks and in my mind the events are exagerated, but I had missed the whole of the stage and this is my first sight and it is of someone who looks so "high" they are beyond reason. OK so he has done something great and maybe that is a rationale but an immediate thought was "has this guy been pumped up with testosterone for the day - "sh*t or bust". And then it turned out...............
