Are other teams getting the hang of disrupting the HTC train? .... not that it makes any difference! Renshaw gets him there but boy does Cavendish finish! The guy's good inni?

And the smile on his face at being given the jersey on the podium. He wears his heart on his sleeve alright.

I want to see how badly it breaks up tomorrow there are some seriously punishing climbs! if voekler can stay up with the main peloton he may yet keep that yellow, interesting to see if cav has got the legs to keep the green or if rojas or Gilbert win it back.
otherwise neat day today, no horrible accidents despite the wet and cav showing that if he's let loose early enough he's damned hard to catch!

also epic moment in work, got the tour streaming on one screen whilst i work on the other, the department head wanders over to catch how its all going after coming out of a meeting then announces "oh yeah i've got it playing in the office too"
heh, nice to have lots of cyclists in work he's a big HTC fan too so he'll be happy with today.

I think tomorrow the intermediate sprint comes before any of the catergorized climbs so Cav should be OK to contest it.

Did anybody else catch the interview with with Rojas on Eurosport where they said Gilberts team were going to push the pace so Cav finishes outside the time limit on the stage to Alpe D'Huez.

If they do then I wouldn't think it cricket old boy. I know others will disagree as it's a perfectly legal thing to do but I personally would find it just a little, well, smelly.

Ride a high pace, sure, but with the sole and stated purpose of ousting someone?? It's like If you can't win fairly then you aim to remove the competition. Nah, as we'd say in NZ, a w*nker's trick. Like trying to get someone disqualified.

But that would mean the end of Greipel too

I hope that doesn't happen and I'm sure HTC will try to counter any moves of that nature. However it was another good win for Cav and it confirms that he is still the man to beat in the sprint finishes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That doesn't make sense though. Time limit is set by the average speed of the winner of the stage. So unless they mean they'll try to drop him out of the gruppeto, it's a nonsense. I can't find what the time limits are now but they go something like this:-

For mountain stages the scale goes from:
6% for less than a 26km/h average
7% for a 26km/h average
8% for a 27km/h average
9% for a 28km/h average
10% for a 29km/h average
11% for a 30km/h average
12% for a 31km/h average
13% for a 32km/h average
14% for a 33km/h average
15% for a 34km/h average
16% for a 35km/h average or greater

anybody got any thoughts on where the yellow jersey's going? Is this the year of the Schlecks? Or will Cadel Evans finally come good?

I think it's impossible to tell who has the form until the first mountain stage. All three have done a good job of staying out of trouble so far, which is all the contenders can hope to do in the opening skirmishes. Contador is not looking good with a dodgy knee and a bit of time lost already.
