The Yates Twins are in the "French failures off the back" group too, a little inattentive / disappointing from them.

its only a minute to the "Main contenders" group at the moment so all is not lost.

That's the kind of climb I like. Not balls out stoopid, just a nice long steady climb on a decent surface in a superb location. Not your usual mountain climb for sure, but more my kind of thing. Set a (slow) rhythm and trundle along nice and steady.

I think today is when my early predicted "Hot Tip" to win, Mattias Skjelmose, rides his way to the top of the GC.

Currently, he has been shrewdly, tactically, deliberately, hiding out of sight at 28th position, just eagerly waiting to pounce.

Interesting fact from the race center thingy

It’s the last call for the Spaniards: if they don’t win today, their win drought will hit 100 individual stages. Their last win to date is Mende 2018 (Omar Fraile). It’s their longest since 1978-1983, when the streak was 118 stages long.

and pidcock to nick a bit of time back on GC with a demon descent

He’s said he’s aiming for a top 10 finish in GC and no longer stage hunting. He’s too close to GC to be allowed to get away now anyway so has little chance of sneaking a stage win, so this will be his only real chance to grab a bit of time.

And, since their Spanish glory days, they've lost all of their style.

Every time I look at the ticker the break is 2'20" give or take a few sec.

Looks like the grown ups may not be going to let them have their fun.

The whole of Spain breathes a sigh of relief
