Hope everyone well and still cycling,

Well today i had my Bike Fit since owning my bike since May this year and may i say it has made an incredible difference.

I had it done at On Your Bike in Birmingham and they are the best, full Bike Fit for £100.00 and it took just over 3 hours, with the full works and it certainly has made a difference.

Sorted out my cleats, got my saddle higher, took about an inch off the handlebars, got the saddle at the right angle and adjustment.

Noticed when i was riding home for 10 miles that i didn't have to move on to me bar ends and that a certain hill by me was definitely easier to get up, also pulling away at traffic lights seemed easier so overall i am very happy.

On Your Bike really treat you like a cyclist, no patronising remarks or raised eyebrows and Dan the fitter was brilliant so guys, if you live in Brum get up there and see what they offer and if you have any pains or aches get a bike fit done, you wont regret it.

Oh also got a new saddle as my backside was really sore after 20+ mile rides, got home and not a slight ache or pain

Best money i ever spent and will certainly be going back to them more in the future

Glad to hear it was a good experience, but as you bought a new and presumably different saddle, you've ruined the control of the exercise. It may all be down to the new saddle..!

A few adjustments cost £100!! or was it part of some sort of service/repair?

I think it was more of a tayloring process to work through your fit onto your bike.
I can imagine it takes a while sorting out your body dimensions and proportions and adjusting the bike to make the best fit to your body. Also working out the alignment of feet on pedals to get the right position on the cleats.

The breakdown is probably something like £10 to make the adjustments and £90 to work out what those adjustments should be.

I could be wrong, it's just my guess.

The guy paid for 3 hours of skilled labour, with me that would be £175 how was he seen coming. I say he got extremely good value for money.

The only part of his post that got me was saying they are the best, I would like to know how many other fitting firms he has tried.

Personally I would have gone to Adrian Timmis and had the insoles done at the same time.

Could it possibly be just the placebo effect.

It's amazing how some things become "essential" when there's money to be had.

I upgraded my rims recently for a set costing more than 3 times my existing ones - no difference IMO but someones made some cash out of it.

It can all get a bit anal this cycling lark. There seems to be a fair bit of one upmanship and keep up with the Jones's out there and if you don't pay for this and that then you're not a serious cyclist like me and Lance.

Don't be hard on him, he is happy and feels he got good value. As others say, what other specialist could you buy for 3 hours for £100? If what he has learned lasts the rest of his life it was a damned good investment.

I paid 40 quid to the Giant store at Rutland when I got my first drop bar bike. I wanted to make sure it was fit correctly, so that if I didn't like it, I could be happy that I would never get on with drop bars, and wouldn't be left with a niggling doubt that it was my fault for getting the geometry wrong.

Whether it made a difference or not, I don't know, but I can report that the bike is completely comfortable

Bravo and thanks for your intelligent input

Bit of jealousy going around this discussion me think, its my money, my bike and i will do what i want with it without some crettens coming out the woodwork and saying

"they must have seen you coming"

" its all a bit of umanship"

etc etc

I am very happy with my bike and every person is different but a few people on this forum are a teeny bit immature to say the least

All i did was put a post up to say i was happy with my bike fit and that the company i went to were very good, most replies should have been, "well done or Glad you liked it but as with the typical British make in this country if you have better or can do better they don't like you

Rant over and it wont stop me posting again
