In between here and there
Is there a reason that the TV coverage does not tap in to the data on the bikes computer? Seem they are missing a trick would love to see KMH/MPH Heart Rate cadence and 1 mile split times

Acceptable reasons for the OP (please tick as appropriate)

1) You're being sarcastic
2) You're housebound and your TV remote is broken
3) You work for Eurosport and really want them to show more beach volleyball
4) Mark Cavendish has kidnapped you, tied you to a chair and is making you watch all his victories endlessly

There is simply too much bike racing and I'm already suffering from bike racing fatigue even before The Tour de France has started. It is getting to the stage where it is becoming like wallpaper of musak just twittering away in the background. I think peopel will get bored and fed up if they don't reduce the coverage.

Wibble, nice try :troll: . How's your Toys R Us bike doing these days :hyper: ? We have not heard about that for a while.

The OP may have been sarcastic but I preferred the days when the TdF highlights show on Channel 4 was only 30 minutes long. When it changed to one hour on ITV4 I found that after a week or so I began to resent spending one whole hour every day just to keep up to date, so now I always record the show so I can zap through the boring bits, and on a flat stage often am only watching about 15minutes. Things just haven't been the same since Indurain.

I kind of agree with that, you can't stay glued to a bike race like a game of football, basketball or ice hockey. I prefer to watch whilst reading or doing something else. Especially if it's live for 4-5 hours.

I think 1 hour is much better - 30 minutes was way too short. They have regular features, adverts etc. It's not as though it is anything like 60 minutes of pure racing.

I've watched a lot of the Dauphine/Suisse coverage on Eurosport recently and found the commentary very informative.

No way is there too much bike racing on TV, even if you do have Eurosport.

Agreed, but I would rather too little than too much - with the recent Tour of California coverage on ITV4 they seemed to spend the first 15mins discussing the previous days stage, as if even they were struggling to find enough "highlights" to fill the slot.

Mind you when its a mountain top finish it is nice to see the final climb in full so you can see how it develops, and then you do need a one hour programme.

If you just have freeview then all you can watch is those tour series things, a bit of track cycling and the tour.

It's magic, I'm right excited!

Shame I've got to go to Spain for a wedding in the middle of it- should be able to get away and watch the tour somewhere though.

I liked it when Ch4 used to put the Tour highlights on at 5:30 pm. I'd leave work at 5, get on my bike (I only had one then, a slicked-up MTB), ride like a nutter for 9 and a bit miles, get into the armchair in front of the TV just in time. Watch the tour in my cycling togs with sweat dripping offa my nose.

At the time I was living in a crappy rented flat with dodgy electrics. The TV was rented too! who does that now? I rented it for so long that Granada gave it to me in the end. Bastard thing broke a few weeks after.
