So tomorrow morning will be my fist chance to go a proper cycle that isn't a commute to work. I'm going to do a loop basically. I don't know how far yet I've decided the best option is to go with the flow. I'll be leaving the house 7 am and ill be back when I get back. Ideally hoping to cover at least 20 to 30 miles. Wish me luck and keep your fingers crossed for half decent weather.

I think it should be fine I was going to set a longer goal but decided to choose a route with more hills try get used to them a bit more. I think it will be more beneficial to me as my commute is only 7.5 k but 122m climb.

The plan is to do this same route every week on a sat or Sunday then add ten miles every month. Which should put me in a good position for doing over 100 miles for charity.

I started cycling about this time last year and planned on building my mileage by 10 miles a month. Some months it didn't happen and other months I increased by more. Don't worry if you don't meet every target every month. Just keep enjoying it and the distance will come.
Good luck for tomorrow

very similar aim! At the minute I can do 25 miles no problem, 40 starts to hurt. We're determined to do at least one 50 miler by the end of the month. It's addictive, a tenner says you won't be halfway through before you start thinking about the next ride!

Won't you get bored doing the same route every weekend? A bit of variety can help to keep you motivated.

But when you're looking to build up distances a bit of familiarity isn't all bad. That said me and the brains of the outfit use a few different routes now depending on what we fancy. I think it's nice to know you can do 10, 20, 30 miles or what have you and then start to explore.

I know there will be a lot of variances trying to achieve the targets and I won't let it get me down if I don't achieve it every month however I will try my hardest not to be beaten and get as close as possible to the target.

I'm already hooked from commuting I'm worse than a kid at Christmas. I was kicking my self after my first commute thinking I should have been doing this for years. Rain or cold doesn't out me off I find cycling quite therapeutic even when I'm challenging myself. And feel good after it. I also like the fact I'm out and about and not stuck behind the car steering wheel.

See 4 weeks is all ill be doing the same route then adding to it to change it up. I choose the 4 weeks so I could challenge myself for 4 weeks on each additional bit I add to the route. So don't think I'll get to board.
