Toilet getting there

I despise modern dual-flush push button toilets. It's been known for a while that, as a whole, they use more water than the traditional siphon flush cistern (WWP, if you're an old school plumber).

The siphon design cannot leak into the pan (unless the fill valve gets stuck and it overflows, but that's a different matter). The dual flush types have a below-waterline valve which inevitably starts to leak, giving a constant trickle of water into the pan. Obviously the fill valve keeps the cistern topped up, so you're just wasting water 24/7.

I will only have a siphonic flush. They are getting rarer as the human race forgets all the good stuff it learnt in the past.

I know someone who trained an "indoor / house rabbit" (yes curious concept) to poop in the loo....

Drift warning

Over the years we had several indoor rabbits that were house trained. Well, they sort of train themselves. Just have to help them use the litter tray. Job jobbed, so to speak

Sooner have a cat over a rodent, cats will catch Rodents, Rodents won't.
Rabbits are Rodents.

Our downstairs loo has a traditional syphon flush - recently replaced the valve with one that has all the parts available separately - especially the diaphragm and it pulls apart easy to do any repairs. The upstairs I've kept the handle but the whole internals have been replaced, and the flush is like a flap - it's soft touch - just lightly press the handle. It's been very reliable and hasn't leaked. Not a push button fan, but that's all you can get these days - sister has had nothing but trouble with theirs.

I bought and fitted a traditional lever handle, syphon flush jobbie engine this year. They're still there in the "traditional" designs. It's quite an effective flusher.
