Wtf is strava and Garmin more important ?

It just is. Most of my uploaded rides (to RWGPS not strava but the principle is the same) are private, but I still find it infuriating if some snafu or other means I can't upload a ride.

I like looking back over rides that I've done in the past, and checking details of routes and so on. A missing one is really annoying.

I still find it infuriating if some snafu or other means I can't upload a ride [to RwGPS].

If a snafu occurs, is it not fairly easy to just plot the route you took on RwGPS and "Record this ride as a trip" or save it as a and upload it as a 'trip'? I do this for all my rides: plan them on RwGPS, ride them, and then edit the plan to l'actualite, save and upload.

I know, and I've done that, but it's not quite the same as your own GPX. It's like having to drink instant coffee.

On Friday evening I set out for a spin in quite calm conditions. Over time the clouds became heavier and darker and it became clear there was a large amount of rain about to be dumped. At this stage I was a couple of miles from home so had the option to bail and head home or go for the extra 6 mile loop I had planned.

I figured that judging by the clouds I was in for a soaking either way so headed out on the loop. The rain caught me with 2 miles to go and spectacular it was. Within minutes I was soaked and the roads were awash. Climbing the final hill was fun as a river was flowing down my side of the road ... although afterwards Strava told me I had achieved a PB on the climb, so sometimes a little motivation is good !

Anyone else regretted not taking the opportunity to bail early on a ride ?

Almost mirrors my ride on Sunday, was doing a usual quick loop of mine circa 10mile, I know this ride usally take 50-60min to ride and the weather forcast rain in 1.30hr. unfortunately the wind brought it in sooner, unfortunately I had no option to bail as was at the furthest point of my loop exactly in the middle. needless to say my segments after this were mainly PR's

We was on a ride last Thursday evening, we normally end the ride in one of our local pubs, We were a couple of miles away from the pub when the heavens opened, we looked like three drowned rats in seconds, We decided we could not sit in the pub dripping wet so we bailed on the pub and went straight home, Does that count?
