He said he has tried a number of things and perfected the technique over time but Velo rim tape is what he uses now. I'm not sure what the black sticky stuff is, I thought it was the stuff to fix car tyres but he said it wasn't, obviously I don't think he wants to reveal what it is but it's flexy, and black. He is going to let me have a little to fix my 3 tyres

Never tried it but sounds like he's using some form of liquid rubber for the repair. Maybe something like this... http://www.devcon.com/products/products.cfm?family=Flexane® 80 Liquid

Sounds like it could well be that.

if the thread is still on going i would like to give a point to vittoria rubinos too, i use em since october last year and they havent gave up on me even once, mind me im cycling about 50 miles a week + commuting on my roadie all around the town, i cycled thru gravel and glass already and yet to have a puncture, best buy ever in my opinion these are great and the grippy surface really works, first few weeks of having them i could really feel the grip increase during sharp turns after that i think i just got used to it, once again great tires

Tell me when you have reached 12,000 miles on them (front, rear won't last as long) and I might give them ago :okay:

Exactly what i opted to put on mine again in the end although it was these that both got cut with flints in one ride. Hope it doesn't happen too often as could become expensive. Having said that the first ride out on the new tires felt so smooth.
Its the roads round here that are not smooth, not my tyres

I've never had a problem with Schwalbe tyres apart from Ultremo, but they aren't made for these roads. Talk about little cuts

Its like swap out, it actually comes from computer programming at low level (I believe), the correct term is to swap something, i.e swap the cassette, not swap out the cassette, or even change, another one in cyclying that gets me me is index the gears, the only thing you are doing is adjusting them so that in high gear (rear this is) its correctly adjust, so I can go along with setting the index, but your not re-indexing or indexing it as that is set by the shifter, it makes it sound more complex than it is.
