So working Monday to Friday sometimes not getting back home till 7/8 I don't get alot of time to get out on the bike so the weekends are my best times to enjoy cycling.

This past week has been manic at work and last weekend I was out of action due to sinus issues and a chest infection. So the plan was to get out on the bike this morning for an hour. Got up remembered that I needed to do a couple of little bits to the bike that i just didnt have the energy to do last weekend so started to do those one of which was to remove the winter mudguards . No sooner had I finished and the heavens opened and the temperature dropped.

I think this is a case of sods law as I won't get a chance to get out on the bike now until next weekend.

Oh well on a plus point knowing the weather was staying for the day I have given the bike a through clean and polish and it's currently sat on the turbo trainer for later. If I can't get out on the road I better get on the turbo and boost my weight loss.

In an ideal world I would have two bikes a nice summer one and a use and abuse winter/bad weather one.

Unfortunately limited finances and space stop that from happening so have to do with just the one all year through.

I never take my mudguards of. Wet here this morning but we had visitors so it didn't matter. I've cleaned my bike today for the first time for several weeks and tomorrow looks promising.

Why not go out in the rain guards or not? You'll only get wet.

It was more the cold as I have only just got over a chest infection that put me off. Plus I have had 2 bouts of chest infections in the past 4 months so didn't want to risk a relapse or make it worse.

Any other time and I would of just jumped on the bike and suited up with my waterproof jacket.

Well I did think about leaving them on and too be honest it may be the best option knowing how variable the British weather can be. The only reason I want them off is so I can load the bike in the car and head off to different places for rides having a saloon car even with a big boot needs the wheels off to shut the boot and with the guards still on it just won't fit. I know I could bite the bullet and purchase some form of rack but budgets are tight so it will be a good few months of saving the pennies.

My sympathies.
Ready for first outing in 2 weeks, new rain jacket and cover for Brooks saddle.
Got up early, ready to roll and
it's snowing
No snow down in essex just cold and very wet. The most annoying thing is tommorrow is meant to be better but I already have plans so no cycling tommorrow. Oh well may just have to make an excuse to leave work early and go for a short spin.

I had over a year of 11 hour shifts , just ride as and when you can .Now i have the time but not the bank balance ........
Well the bike is sat inside now so I have no excuses to put in 20 - 30 mins on the turbo just to keep fitness up and make the most of the days I have free.

In fact I have just put in a 40min interval run 7.5 miles with a number of high intensity cycles which nearly killed me so at least I have done something.

The best thing is less than 2 months ago I would struggle to do 20mins on the turbo so the fitness levels are increasing and I can feel my power levels are on the up as I am sat on the smaller ring on the middle of the cassette keeping a steady 13 mph where as before I would be struggling to keep at 10 higher up the gears.
