Our son swears by it. It's become almost a religion with him. He was a massive meat eater and suddenly one day said he was going vegan. The wife and I said it wouldn't last. He's been at it now for longer than I can remember. He does say, though, that finding vegan meals when out and about is a problem. He travels a lot in his job both in the UK and abroad and complains he can never find a decent place to eat. He tries to convert his mum and dad but the wife refuses to give up meat. I reckon I could be a vegetarian without too much difficulty but being vegan is a step too far for me.

My wife often does the food, but over the years some of the vegetarians have become vegan. A vegetarian option is easy, in fact it tends to be the default. A third vegan option generally proves to be a something of a PITA. So the vegans end up with a single specially prepared dish (and inevitably complain) the majority of the food is vegetarian plus a couple of meaty options.

I could very happily be vegetarian, as I'm already some way down that road. But vegan would be a step too far.

I done vegan for ten months and felt dreadful at the end of it. I'm practically full carnivore now, and feel better than ever, ten years on from my vegan journey. Good luck with your veganism but it wasn't for me

I don't understand there being no grease on the kitchen cooker filter.
Without home made garlic mushrooms, frying onions for home made tomato sauces, stir frys, crisping off tofu, vegetables in homemade batter, fried potatoes, etc., not everyday but as part of my diet, my taste buds would feel neglected.

One of our grown up daughters has been Vegan for 4 years, my wife was formerly a chef and easily accommodates it. I prefer a varied diet, vegetarianism could be an option if I didn’t enjoy meat and fish.

I've met people who say they're vegetarian, but they occasionally eat a " bit of chicken " 🤔🤣

yeah i know a few of those types... using their logic I can claim to be 95% vegetarian because I only spend about 10-15 minutes a day eating meat.

...or... agree with them and claim that chicken isn't really meat. It's just a mature egg.

The next benefit was to achieve the thing I started it for - a sustained reduction in blood pressure.

Whilst you’ve seen that outcome, I would say it’s not necessarily a Vegan benefit. You can have good blood pressure whilst also eating meat.

I used to work for a vegetarian who ate bacon rolls!

In Austria, I believe they think pigs are vegetables.

I've been there skiing a few times, always staying half board in hotels. With every evening meal having a regular and a vegetarian option. But in two separate hotels, I have seen ham included in the vegetarian option one evening.

Similar experience of vegetarians on ski-ing holiday in Austria. Slightly worse than just the normal meal without the meat, which is what is generally offered.

I saw a video of a vegan girl saying she could have eggs everyday if they were organic and the birds were fed grain. By that token my steak is vegan as the cows are grass fed. ^_^

The famous DJ John Peel used the 'logic' that hen eggs were the hen's periods so that allowed him to eat them while maintaining his vegan diet!
