Week 24 – ride 1 (Mon) – 44 mins – a Pontmenard loop: on the Urban Shaper
Week 24 – ride 2 (Mon) – 41 mins – SBdM and la Plaisance: on the Princess
Week 24 – ride 3 (Mon) – 43 mins – a Devison loop: on the MASSI
Week 24 – ride 4 (Tues) – 35 mins – local lanes: on the RAID
Week 24 – ride 5 (Tues) – 58 mins – le Validée, Pont de Rox, SBdM and Plaisance: on La Rossa
Week 24 – ride 6 (Tues) – 41 mins – local lanes: on the MASSI
Week 24 – ride 7 (Wed) – 30 mins – local lanes: on the Urban Shaper
Week 24 – ride 8 (Wed) – 52 mins – a Pontmenard loop: on the MASSI

W24R1 - Hybrid 1 hour 18 mins - Local(ish) bike shop & back with some diversions en route on return
W24R2 - Mares CX 30 mins - Goadsbarrow, Roa Is etc return.
W24R3 - Centurion 5 speed 1 hour 57 mins - local laps Burnley (total 51.7 km / 32.1 miles, bugger all ascent but a best for me 40+km ride avg speed of 16.8 mph / 27.0 kph)

Week 24: 4 qualifying rides, 50 km, 3 hrs.
  • Ride 1 (Tue): 11 km. 6-er. Extended lumpy local loop with extra climb. 0.75 hr.
  • Ride 2 (Wed): 8 km. 6-er. Lumpy local loop. 0.5 hour.
  • Ride 3 (Fri): 18 km. CAAD5 - Lots of gears - steep hills! 1 hr.
  • Ride 4 (Sun): 13 km. 6-er***. Extended lumpy local loop to take in Lumbutts climb and Walsden. 0.75 hr.
Success rate: 24 weeks out of 24.

79 qualifying rides so far this year, totalling 1,577 km, and taking approximately 102.5 hrs.

*** DIY 6-speed bike mainly ridden in 42/15 gear but did steep climb to Lumbutts in 42/29

Had almost given up on this as I haven't had a lot of time for cycling lately and thought I had missed the target of 3 rides a week but on checking the Garmin it seems my utility rides to water the allotment have kept me in it!. (as long as I go the long way around) Nearly half way there now.

W22R1 30/5/23 33:14 5.8 miles Through hall, green drive to allotment and back along prom
W22R2 31/5/23 2:36:05 27.6 miles Wrea Green, Kirkham, cottam. Freckleton, Warton
W22R3 2/6/23 1:20:50 Wrea green, Little Plumpton, Ballam Road

W23R1 3/6/23 1:08:40 12.8 miles around st Annes, across the moss, Division lane
W23R2 7/6/23 34:01 5.71 miles. Through the hall, green drive, back along prom
W23R3 8/6/23 43:51 4.3 miles hall and green drive, them walked home with a puncture but I’m still counting it!
W23R4 10/6/23 33:19 5.7 miles prom to allotment and back same way

W24R1 12/6/23 35:40 5.9 miles prom to allotment and back same way
W24R2 14/6/23 34:15 5.7 miles prom to allotment and back same way

W25R2 - Hybrid 4 hour 45 mins - L&L to Clayton le Moors, Altham, Simonstone, Whalley, Wiswell, Nick of Pendle, Sabden, the Ridge, Noggarth Top, Roughlee, Spen Brook, the Ridge, Higham, Fence, Burnley, L&L, Rowley Lake, Worsthorne, Hurstwood, Townley, L&L (total 80.1 km / 50.4 miles plus 3,604 ft / 1098 m ascent).
W25R3 - Centurion 5 speed 1 hour 8 mins - Burnley, L&L, Brun Valley, Rowley Lake, Brownside, Worsthorne, Hurstwood, Red Lees, Townley, Burnley, L&L
W25R4 - Hybrid 1 hour 52 mins -Heavily extended Clarion run (via Colne, Blacko etc)

  • Ride 5 (Fri): 17 km. Hebden Bridge for cafe with pal, then back. 1.25 hour.
  • Ride 6 (Sat): 9 km. Lumpy local loop. 0.5 hr
  • Ride 7 (Sun): 13 km. Extended lumpy local loop with extra climb. 0.75 hr
Success rate: 25 weeks out of 25.

86 qualifying rides so far this year, totalling 1,657 km, and taking approximately 107 hrs.

*** All done on DIY 6-speed bike. Rode in 42/15 gear for flat and uphill sections. Used higher gears a few times downhill.

  • Ride 3 (Thu): 51 km. Tod, Hebden Bridge, Cragg Vale, Blackstone Edge, Littleborough (RSPCA cafe meet-up), Walsden, Lumbutts, Mankinholes, Hebden Bridge, Todmorden. 3 hrs
  • Ride 4 (Sat): 100 km. My Cheshire forum ride. 6 hrs ride time.
Success rate: 26 weeks out of 26.
90 qualifying rides so far this year, totalling 1,828 km, and taking approximately 117 hrs.

*** All done on DIY 6-speed bike. Rode in 42/15 gear for all flat and uphill sections. Used higher gears a few times downhill.

  • Ride 1 (Mon): 9 km. Lumpy local loop. 0.5 hr.
  • Ride 2 (Wed): 10 km. Lumpy local loop. 0.5 hour.
  • Ride 3 (Fri): 102 km. Forest of Bowland ride - Tod, Padiham, Old Roman Rd, Whalley - loop: Mitton, Longridge Fell south side, Chipping, Cow Ark, Bashall Eaves, Mitton - home back along outward route. 6 hrs ride time.
  • Ride 4 (Sun): 12 km. Extended lumpy local loop plus extra climbing. 0.5 hr .
Success rate: 27 weeks out of 27.
94 qualifying rides so far this year, totalling 1,961 km, and taking approximately 124.5 hrs.

*** All done on DIY 6-speed bike. Rode in 42/15 gear for all flat and many uphill sections. 42/23 for a couple of longish 10%-ers, and the 42/29 for a couple of tough climbs. Used higher gears a few times downhill.
