84 miles last night. Clear skies and the temperature was perfect, with the air so still that little hollows were noticeably cooler. A delight.

Ive managed to get a jersey tan line on my few weekend rides! I tend to go out early morning or evening on sunny days, I would always avoid the midday heat on a ride If I can.

Like the heat. Get pissed off being in an air-conditioned office, it was better when the only air-conditioning was opening the windows. Last thing I want to be doing in July is sitting all afternoon in a cold draft.

Like riding in it too. Only thing I don't like is I don't sleep so well when the indoor temperature is in the high 20s (just after 10 pm now and the thermostat is reading 30).

Riding late -or early- is great in these conditions.

Years ago when I could cycle all day mostly, it was great, ride a bit - then shower and relatively sit on your ass for the rest of the day, see friends..etc..but now I work its hell esp. as I have to wear trousers - no tie thank god.

I feel this heat has come on pretty quick even last Thurs on the chainy when it goes extra hot the pace goes up about 3mph..so i'm mostly on the back no hard deal..still get the training & (masochistic) fun.

Mostly though, you end up a sweaty mass and even now I'm thinking about being reduced to an emotional reck with this heat.

Some bloke in work went away to majorca and he said it was hotta than this and i'm wondering if i could actually do that heat like I can BUT 30'c is really quite hot.

Looking on the temp forecast for overnight its supposed to be no less than 20'c !

The heat on its own I can handle, but it's the high humidity we've had recently that really gets to me - it's like a greenhouse out there a lot of the time. And it's impossible to get the heat out of my flat, so it's still roasting at night...

A comedy sketch could be made of the above post !

Personally, I prefer a warm air temperature.

A motorcar emissions test is done in an ambient of 25 +/- 5 C. In past days when the Friday testing had finished, I would strap my bike on the Motorcycle dyno and give it a good blast.

The dyno had a speed tracking fan. It also had dist/gradient profiling, and I could simulate a decent climb - like L'Alpe .

The simulation wasn't strictly true because it would be cooler than 25 C at the top of L'Alpe ;)

I'm no scientist but I seem to remember warm air expands so it is less dense. So that could be why you seem to cut through it faster?

I am loving cycling in the warm evenings, I confess I am a bit of a fair weather cyclist, although with my new project that will have to change.

+1 for the evenings. Thin, still air and plenty of energy in the body from having sat at a desk all day.

Went out this morning and by 10 o clock it was already slightly uncomfortable. Thought about pouring some of my water over my head, which I have only ever done in France.

It feels wrong to moan, but I do prefer it a little cooler / less humid.

Did 3 1/4 hours today with a lunch stop in the middle.

Averaged under 16mph (excluding stop). Was just sooo hot - was sick and got serious cramp towards the end, despite sucking a camelback dry almost twice.

Think today is officially the hottest yet?

Have taken it slightly easier on the short commute for the past 2 days but it's been nice to feel the sun on my face... particularly during the late afternoon trip home

We spend 99% of the time bitchin' about the British weather and when we have some warm sunny days we still moan

You need some factor 50 on those lips (sorry- BEAK) hun. xx

I love the warm weather. I really do.

But I ventured out to run some errands just after lunch today, on my low geared fixed bike. It was hard to believe I was soaring along only the previous night on the high geared fixed bike, I was feeling it quite a bit in my legs on even the modest gradients.

I was actually glad to get back home.

Still, I reckon it would be lovely to get out now.

84 miles... you are getting some form Dell.
