I have to admit I've not used the bike to get to work the last two days: that's because Little-LC is unwell and I've needed to drop her off at her gramps for looking after. However, I've not been too upset about not being out in the heat .. not as upset as I normally would be when forced to use the car, anyway.
Still, back on the bike tomorrow so will see how I get on .. am hoping to pop out for an hour or so later this evening by way of getting my legs loosened up ready.
Hrmm, gonna have to knock out at least 25miles tonight to burn off in advance the BBQ and beer I intend to have when I get home. Hopefully neither will be a chore. Best day of the year so far from what I can make out, you're a long time dead!
Yesterday I left the bike in the garage and took the kayak for a paddle down the Hamble River, perfect there was a nice breezes and with the sun block hardly a suntan if this is climate change bring it on
I was near Wisley yesterday afternoon, which, I learned this morning, was the hottest place in Britain yesterday, at 31 degrees.
The heat off the road was stifling, and tyres were squeaking and sticking on the overbanding stuff.
It was just too hot, and I gave up and went home after 12 miles or so. What's the point of kicking the ass out of it in the midday heat (I was only out as I had to go to the shops).
Have taken it slightly easier on the short commute for the past 2 days but it's been nice to feel the sun on my face... particularly during the late afternoon trip home
We spend 99% of the time bitchin' about the British weather and when we have some warm sunny days we still moan
I'm finding it far too hot. My house is a heat trap in the summer, and I'm finding it hard to sleep. Mr Plax refuses to stay over mine when it's like this.
As for cycling, I was dripping with sweat yesterday getting home and found it quite hard going compared to normal. I had to drive in today which was worse - the car was like a sauna and the electrics for the driver side window has stopped working so I could only open the passenger side window. Think I'd prefer to do the shorter rides on the bike than in the car in this weather. It's the only time I appreciate a bit of breeze when I'm on the bike too!
