This tiny submarine 2.4 miles under the sea, visiting the relics of RMS Titanic. Can it be found and the crew saved before the air runs out?

It might be that it is not at the bottom as sound apparently won't travel to the surface due to thermoclines/some other reason? It could be that they are already at the surface. Fingers crossed for all concerned.

That part of BBC reporting does sound more hopeful. Spotting a small white object in a large ocean, even with sound triangulation, is a tricky job though. Pity they didn't paint it bright orange.

Yes - that seems a silly move. White won't stand out.

The U.K. makes costs analysis daily about people’s lives. How much to spend on life saving treatments or medicines. How many staff on a hospital ward. How many ambulances per area.

They will be spending millions and millions to save these few people. Many more people will be denied life saving treatment for the same amount. I hope the U.K. government keeps its spending in proportion. Private companies can do what they like.

What are the UK spending on this exactly ?

Where will the oxygen be stored on/in this tiny submarine and how much oxygen will they have taken for the journey?🤔 I heard the journey to the Titanic takes 3 hours in such a craft. I would not fancy at all taking 3 hours, knowing you're going deeper and deeper away from safety!

Its 2.5 miles down, so no matter what colour it is, it wont be seen.
It was a very bad idea to get into that submarine and I cant believe that educated, intelligent people really thought it would be o.k.
Its incredibly sad for those mens families, one woman will have lost her husband and son. Its awful and they will be dead now. There needs to be banning of these stupid things.

But who would do the banning and who would enforce it? People do risky things all the time but that doesn't mean anyone can or should ban it? Besides they are in international waters.

I don't disagree that it seems a bad idea and in fact reading that they are bolted in with no way to open it from the inside strikes me as being beyond madness.

It's US waters and the US coastguard, who are technically a branch of their military, would enforce it as far as the Titanic is concerned. I can see that happening after this for all but licenced science visits.

Not looking good at all. Very sad, but bad luck under 12500 feet of water rarely has good outcomes.

Did anyone e see the chap on the news yesterday? He'd paid a deposit for a visit to Titanic on this sub, but once he'd clapped eyes on it and saw how Heath Robinson, in his opinion, it was he asked for his money back. I'm not an expert on such matters but it seems to me a very clever design but possibly poorly executed.
