Coming to the end of my ride yesterday I had one final right turn to make to take the road down to my village. I had a motorcycle and a car behind me. The motorcycle over took before I reached the approach to the right turn, I then signaled a right turn and moved over the right hand side of the lane. This upset the car driver who now doubt had been planning to squeeze past me before the junction and proceeded to do the usual car horn beeping and abuse ... so far so normal. But then the guy in the car who was turning left from the the junction I was approaching also joined in ... I was just amazed at the lengths some people will go in order to get upset.

Apart from that it was a very civilized ride, considering the number of cyclists out on some pretty narrow and winding roads I thought the majority of drivers were very sensible and considerate.

Anyone else ever be subject to what can only be described as Third Party Abuse ?

I caught some third party abuse on camera. I can't share it because I shout and swear at the end. It's just pathetic the way people who have no idea who was where and when and how, suddenly think they know it all. Makes me mad thinking about it.

I had one the other day- I was trying to get out of a car park, turning right, on the edge of town- there was a continual (and I mean continual) stream of cars from both ways- I sat looking like a plank for ages. In the end a gap came from the right, so I moved out to occupy the whole lane and wait for a gap left- someone flashed me out and a pedestrian on the other side of the road called me a bl**dy idiot.

I stopped to ask him why he thought that and he said I could have been killed and I should have used the pavement- I pointed out I did exactly what a car would have done in that situation and being a 30 mph zone sincerely hope I wouldn't have been killed, he muttered something and walked off.

Admittedly what I did was a bit cheeky but it was a 10 minute round trip I was carrying out and seemed to be spending more time sat still than I did moving.

I am far more polite and less confrontational with a camera in use

At the end of the day the "viewer" will feel more supportive if you are reasonable and the other guy is aggressive muppet

I was gesticulated at in some roadworks for having the temerity to hold up a bmi challenged lady of the not so bright. I think she was gesticulating, she may have been practising a belly dancing move. Anyway, I indicated she should look up at the sky and take in a 180 degree vista of it.
