Fishing...i did enjoy being outside, watching the wildlife and trying to outwit a sea trout.....but cant do it anymore or kill anything. Towards the end of my fishing career i would only take fish which were deeply hooked but eventually put everything back. I couldnt justify it anymore ie tormenting a fish for my own jollies/amusement. A seatrout is a beautiful fish and stocks are in serious decline, at least im not contributing to their demise. Ive kept my gear in case of apocalypse survival...

Never seen the sense I trying to out wit a fish, then chucking back in.
But to hunt for the pot, certainly do that, much the same as grow your own veg...

You mean you take a living carrot chop it up whilst is still alive and then boil it till soft that's really cruel.... 🤣
#savetheveg.... 🤣

Yah I would , but I go to Aldis to buy what I want, I don't hint for the pot. I buy....but the principle remains .....I used to do all my baking , but I don't have anyone to share it with, doesn't help i'm diabetic, similarly I was going to have a go at home brew....but you need to keep it going.... I 'll end up a real piss head if I did, ...8 enjoy the occasional pint...but home brew is risky stuff...

Work.
I loved work, immersed myself in it, it stretched me, I've travelled abroad a lot with it despite being an introvert, I always found myself being 'the guy everyone comes to' for advice, information etc etc. I had continued working beyond retirement age and perhaps intended working till 68...but my wife's ails and the grandkids living with us cut that short.
I thought I'd hate not working, I almost dreaded stopping.
But I love retirement and don't miss work at all. That's surprised me

Seeing "playing squash" as an ex on the list brought it all back.

I played squash, because a girl I went out with did and her dad bumped me into a club.
I realised that I had dreadful hand-eye coordination that was a bummer. But I was left handed and quick, so my Australian coach (drinking mate) suggested I could blag it down in the ladders.
At college my club carried some weight and I found myself out of my class repeatedly.

After college I took up work and got into a respected south london club. Mostly nodded through because of the club I belonged tp amd my erstwhile coach had moved up in the world.
The real bonus was that generally I played ladies in the bottom ladders - or total twerps . The twerps Well that was the price you paid.
The ladies, that was something else. Basically you got to see them at their best and from the back. Learn a lot about their character and buy them a drink if they beat me. I bought a lot of drinks. But some turned into dates.
Then my friend with benefits found out and I had to make a choice.
I took up 10k
