Why do they play the National Anthem last thing at night on Radio 4? Just as I'm getting off to sleep after the Shipping Forecast and Sailing By, I have to get up and stand to attention.

They used to do it in cinemas once, there was a mad rush to get out before it stated.

Languages: I heard somewhere language grammar has been deteriorating or simplifying for thousands of years. For example, modern English grammar is simpler than old English. Italian is simpler than Latin, which is simpler Sanskrit, which is simpler than proto-Indo-European. If that's the case, how did those early languages get so complicated in the first place?
