..... Hope

I was going to buy the new integrated rear LED from Exposure lights, but not any more. I will now be waiting until 2011 when hope bring out there new rear LED called the District.

Oh my, it looks good. You can run it off its own battery or you can run it using a splitter cable and connect to your current hope battery set up.

I was only just thinking last week that I wish hope would make a rear led. Now they have, I can't wait. I want the first one out of the factory please.

I have got one hope vision 4 light and two of the hope vision 2 lights. They have all been fantastic lights with good customer service.

A rear TAIL lamp is 50 lm. A STOP lamp is 150 lm. An auxillary FOG REARGUARD lamp is 150 lm.

Are you going to use the Hope lamp in the fog?

The new stand alone unit from Exposure called the Flare and is around £40. If you want the rechargeable set up for this light its around £20. So around £60 in all.

Some cyclists want rear lights that can also be used during the day. This is what I do. The hope looks like it will brighter than the exposure and is also compatible with the other hope lights I have. So an extra £30 for this is ok with me.

£95 for a rear light seems expensive, but you get what you pay for and they will probable sell loads no matter what the price is. Riders can now spend over £400 for front lights, so if people have this sort of money to spend on a front light then £95 will be nothing to them.

Yep, can agree with that.
If people are happy enough to pay £80 for a Hope 1 front light. And there are many that you will so on a FNRttC, then can imagine that a good few of those would be interested in a Hope rear light also.

So primarily for off road. What is the bonus to having such a bright rear light?

I do quite a bit of MTB as well as road. I can't see any reason why you would want such a bright light for off road use. The only thing you would achieve is to annoy your mates behind you. You might need a low powered rear led if you have some road sections on your mtb route.

The main use for a rear led like this would be for road cycling commuters.

I defiantly think it's overkill for that. The blackburn mars 3.0/4.0 and smart 1/2 watt are easily bright enough.

+ how many people commute with a hope vision 2+ as that is really where this light comes into play.

there's such a thing as too bright, I thought jimbo's post well made, it's unlawful to use fog lights in normal weather isn't it?

I'm using a blackburn mars 4 for my rear light and after following someone during the day that had the same, I felt that I do need something that bit brighter. I also use a hope vision 2 which I have set to flashing during the day. I have found that cars even move over to the left for me when I am overtaking.

Maybe hope should have made a rear light with just one or two high powered leds. At 240 lumens each, three leds might be a bit of overkill to be honest.

I will have to see what the power setting options and flash options they have.

I would like a constant option with an intermittent flash. I know exposure do this type of setting with there front lights and it looks very effective.

Gits............I'd buy one........... but just got 2 magicshine rears though that are about 85lm each, and were less than £80 for two, with two chargers, and two batteries.

Certainly too bright group riding (road or MTB)
