I've enjoyed being 60 and 61.
As pointed out earlier 50's are a bit of a strange place , definitely not young , but not quite old yet.

Now I have a bus pass , I rarely use but it's good when I do.

I don't have work to bother about or to wear me down.

It's definitely time for me to do things I like doing .

About two years ago upon filling the car with fuel I went to pay the young lad on the counter. Wild Horses was playing and he said that this sounds good so I told him the name of the track and that it was by the Rolling Stones. He replied "I've heard of them."

My moment was going to my eldest son's year 13 parents evening. As I queued to see his teachers, I observed the school hall full of clapped out looking middle aged people. It slowly dawned on me that I must look exactly the same. Lesson learned.

On a similar note, going to a vintage fair and finding toys and everyday ornaments and objects that you remember as a kid.

Especially when you say, 'that's not vintage, we had one of those.'

I have a few from the 90s, one bought new. These turn up on retrobike and are described as vintage in some places. When I was a kid a "vintage" car was something only an exhaust fart from the things that run to Brighton every year on the ride I started.

I suppose the only things that make me feel old, are memories of those now dead and, as has been said earlier in the thread, anniversaries of things I witnessed.
