the teams play internationals in this window anyway so it is just replacing these tests. Seems pointless really.
My one concern is that the summer and autumn internationals were often used as testing grounds for new players.
Making them full competitive internationals will limit development options.

Anyone else getting vibes of 2007 from this England side? Another slow dirge of a performance against a good but undercooked Ireland. It just reminds me of 2007 when they were written off with a lamentable game plan but the players came together when backs were against the wall to get to the final. IIRC we were two blades of grass against Cueto‘s boot from winning! NZ, SA, France and Ireland are favourites though. En va voie!

I got bored with that match and gave up just after Billy V got carded. An utterly meh England team providing warm up opposition for Ireland.

The end of BV's international career perhaps?

I forgot it was on and I missed it, after reading the match report it sounds like I didn't miss much.

Naah, we'll be fine, all the same old blokes with their vast international experience and Farrell with his no arms shoulder charge tackles all the time will see us to glory, no doubt about it!

Given the draw they could easily get to QF but also easily go out in group stages.
They don’t deserve SF or Final.
They are a very poor team.
Just look how South Africa dismantled Wales who they struggled against.

Not the same Wales though. TBH, all of these "warm up" matches are not very useful in determining how good the teams are, because they are being used to try out players. Several of the Wales players against SA have probably played themselves out of the squad for France.

A rather pleasing result in tonight's game on the cabbage patch.

England might as well not bother turning up.
It’s embarrassing how such a rich nation can be so poor.

I had the misfortune to see most of the second half, most of the time it looked like 15 men running round a rugby field, only occasionally did they look like a team

Confidence and clarity of leadership are lacking. Care and Steward don’t drop balls unless something is not right. I also felt they left quite a bit out on the pitch, perhaps seeing what injury issues are mounting.

Rugby might need a Bazball moment remembering that at the professional level it’s simply entertainment and that’s what pays the bills.
