Why do you choose to have your groceries delivered rather than going to the shops?

We started having our weekly shop delivered during Covid .Going to the nearest Tesco is an 18 mile round trip.Lugging all the shopping into the house is getting beyond us ,plus from the drive there are three steps to negotiate

Good morning folks. A bright start to the day. I tried a new loaf recipe that has come out ok, 50% white, 25% malthouse and 25% spelt flours. It's quite dense but flavoursome. I just tried the crust from the end ( I like crusts ) without anything on it and it's crunchy and chewy. Veg box has been delivered, walking group at 10:30 then a trip to Aldi for emergency coffee beans as we're almost out and our regular supply hasn't arrived yet.

Nice sunny day, so far.. After yesterday's rain, here in Hamtun, I guess the grass will be as high as an elephant's eye soon!

The local ish Sainsbury's is pretty poorly laid out. As you come out of the front doors it's on a slope so a full trolley runs away with you. Out of three lifts up to the carpark there is normally only one working, there was a double travelator when it was first built in 1983, but that soon broke down, and the carpark is a mess.
There are now only 4 manned checkouts with two areas of self checkouts, one for small baskets the other for trolleys.
The nearest Tesco is 7 miles away, and I don't always have use of the car, like now, as after knee surgery I can't drive yet.
I use the local shops for everyday items.

Fair enough.

Why do you choose to have your groceries delivered rather than going to the shops?

I go to the shops for 2 reasons

Firstly - when I got stuff delivered I often got fresh stuff that was short dated or not the best freshness - although I believe this problem has been fixed

Secondly - and most importantly - I need to get out other wise I go crazy (sorry - crazier) and going to the shops helps to get me out
Even when I was banned from driving for a month (medical reasons) I still went to the shops rather than getting deliveries - I just used my bike or walked
My wife did sigh a few times but she knew the reason and would have commented if she thought I should take more care
I did use STrava to allow her to track me in case I had problems and so she wouldn;t worry!
