Good Morning. 'Tis clear and sunny and we are forecast for a beautiful day, before a very soggy Friday and apparently a sunny weekend. That would be good as I haven't had a ride this week. Shortly I will begin ironing followed by stretching and weights. I like to spend a bit of time up and about, mobile before I begin stretching. This morning the workout will be focused on core. Always tough.
Later I'm helping a friend with an application for a TPO on some local trees. We're in a Conservation Area which gives blanket protection but not individual. A local "developer," that's how he sees himself, bought the farm adjacent to the village and wants to build four houses on the land. Truth is he's bought a pig in a poke as the existing historical access is completely unsuitable for construction traffic - the bin lorries can't get down it! Lord, knows how a fire engine would. This is his fourth planning application. We are not nimbys but the developer wants to use a different 2.6 metre wide dirt track that runs through the village as the access road. Every application has failed to date but we have to keep on top of it. Lancashire Highways have objected to the planning unless the track is widened to 4 metres plus 2 metre passing places and offers protection to pedestrians. To achieve this the developer would have to rip out a mature hedgerow plus several mature trees. The concern is his guys might turn up with chainsaws one day. We want TPOs to give us much protection as possible. This has happened locally with another developer. They just take the fine on the nose and shrug their shoulders. My garage and allotment, separate parcels, would have to be purchased to allow the necessary width. that isn't happening.
Watch out for Paul with his clipboard, map, laser device and tape measure!
