Morning all :hello:

My mate from Minehead is popping over at 10am and we will start work on the Bantam he bought and stored in my garage.
Bit of a project. He's doing all the cosmetic work and I've offered to do any engine work needed. I think I got the easy bit!

It's good to see you and others doing this, as today most people live in a throw-a-way society
but saying that repair bills on some items is way too expensive.

I know, I know. You've been waiting with baited breath, which colour scheme did Paul go with? Well coordinated or fashion faux pas? Finally settled on black jersey, bibs and armwarmers, the little black number for cycling, highlights with a bright turquoise gilet which was set off with a blue and turquoise buff.

Good ride today. 64 miles, 15avg. Happy with that.

That has got me thinking. Having sold my Orange and Black brommie my orange socks / polo shirt / watch strap will be retired. Yesterday I took delivery of three pairs of red socks and have just ordered a new red watch strap. These should coordinate with my red polo shirt, black " Hotters " shoes with subtle red accents and black Humvee shorts when I sally forth on my red / black Brommie ( I've just realised that my glasses also have red accents on the arms ). Perhaps I'm morphing into Accy 😮.....

I’ve resigned myself to doing shorter rides. I’m quite happy with between 10 and 20 miles at the moment. Changed days from several years ago when I did an awful lot more. I just ride for fresh air and exercise and not sure I want to spend much more than around 90 minutes on a bike now.

Sounds very sensible to me Mo.

One of my blockages (three or four really when I think about it) to 'getting out' is the faff of getting ready (deciding what to wear, getting dressed, checking the bike over) and for an eg 40 miler (at my old pace) was around 3.25 hours. With some cooling down at the end and a sweat-shedding shower that was half a days worth. Not something I would currently want to commit to a few times a week.

So, I will stick to shorter rides, for now, and see how I feel when I get more bike-fit.

Sunny (very) but chilly right now.

Grass cutting, gym & turbo, some pottering around outside furthering the house painting project (lots of sq.metres of Tyrolean Alpine render), taxi service for Mrs SD's further contributions to her hairdresser's retirement fund, pick up my 2-monthly 'drain on the NHS' tab-stash, curry tonight and we are then off to bed with a bottle of Cointreau and some mellow sounds on the bedroom music pod thingy.

Retirement, pleasantly frenetic at times.

Have a good one everybody!

I've just painted the inside of the porch door. This paint dries quickly and it's so warm that I will be able to give it second coat this afternoon. I bought some new vinyl for the porch. Mr WD will lay it provably on Sunday since the weather is supposed to change to heavy rain. He wants to cut as many branches from the trees and get it under cover before the rain comes.

Probably ham sandwiches for lunch today
