Apparently the A470 that has been closed for 3 months and was due to be re opened tomorrow morning at 8 am, has been re opened tonight at 8 pm. Traffic lights are still there for finishing work to he done, but it's open, so shopping day for us tomorrow. Woohoooo

We have our own little road problems starting this Friday evening .
The A46 is totally shut for three weeks between Coventry and kenilworth. This is a three lane dual carriageway that is one of the main trunk roads connecting the M6 to the M40.
People seem to be losing their s@@t over it on fb😂 but would you expect anything different on fb.
Allow more time, follow the diversions, stay calm and everything will be ok.

Exactly. We have had 3 months of the main north south road in Wales shut. No one has lost their temper.

The only small problem is my daughter is working in kenilworth at the moment, which is fine as she gets there by bus and train . The problem is coming home the trains only run every hour and she finishes at six and the next train is at 7. She could get the bus earlier but that takes even longer to get back to Coventry. So I’ve been picking her up in the evening ( in her car as she still hasn’t passed her test ) .
So time will tell if I can still use the back roads into kenilworth, as the main local diversion takes me miles out of my way towards leamington.
The fun begins in earnest Monday evening. 😀

Well - SWMBO came back from her day out with her friend in Chester

I got a text saying they would be back soon as they were just about to go through the tunnels

I thought - OK crossing the river - will be back in 10 minutes

err

what??

tunnels???

apparently they "missed a junction"

and actually did have a sat nav in the car
and if they did miss the junction it still would have been quicker to come off and go round the roundabout and back the other way

They only noticed when they saw signed for Liverpool Docks
so they travelled from Chester to Widnes via the Mersey Tunnels!!!

those 2 are dangerous when left to themselves!!!

Funny story.
Years when my daughter had just started courting with SiL she was meeting him in Manchester (16 miles away) and a friend offered her a lift.
It was only when they saw the signs for Stoke on Trent (M6) that they realised something was dreadfully wrong.
So a 16 mile trip turned into a 76ish mile trip.

Barnet,
Good morning all.
A warm day is forecast. 20⁰c, the sky does not have a cloud in it at all.
I have a physio appointment at 9.30 at the hospital, MrsP is going to drop me off and pick me up. Then I'll get her to drop me off at the barbers as I need a haircut.
I might go to the Railway Bell at lunchtime for an ale or two🍺
Another busy day in paradise.

Good morning from sunny Dorset. Second Friday and we're meeting in Poole today, a pint in the George then a wander down the High Street to the quay for a bite to eat and visit a couple of pubs. The Dolphin shopping centre has seen many changes and the top floor of what was Beales department store is now an NHS facility and where I had my DEXA scan. It feels surreal as the other floors are still a shop, so you wander past the bedding and up the escalator to the NHS facilities. When they build the Dolphin centre it straddled the high street, so although it is one monogamous building, part of it is still the High Street and therefore has to remain accessible 24 hours a day. There’s a huge floor to ceiling roller shutter that blocks off part of the centre from about 7pm, but walking from the bus station still entails entering the building and wandering past Primark, Boots etc before exiting into the pedestrianised Falkland Square then crossing the railway lines that still dissect the High Street.
