@welsh dragon you need some of these , Amazon I think. Mrs JK uses them to raise the dining table when she is cutting out.

Good morning all, it's not raining and the sun is out.
We are meeting up with a couple of friend for a walk around Essendon and down by the River Lea before having lunch at the Candlesticks pub.

Good morning. It's glorious here but sadly I don't have time to go for a ride. It's u3a cards at 1.30pm and I need to be home around 12.00 to have lunch and head up to the club and prepare things. Done my hamstring exercises and the new strength builder my PT gave me on Monday........oooooof, a tough one. I'll head out for a walk across the hill to the next village and loop home.

.............one more cup of coffee before I go.............

Don't you find that drink/driving puts a dampener on it. I don't advocate excess but I worry if I have a drop over 2 pints (normal strength)

Ah, we all walk / take the Bus to the station to catch the train, ditto on the return journey. Mrs Tenkaykev gave her car away over three years ago, and I'm one of those weirdos who has never owned / driven a car ( though I did learn to drive following redundancy in 1992 )
For the Copper Street Brewery in Dorchester at the end of the month we can get a " group save " day return for about £5 per head if there are three or more travelling, couple that with our Bus passes and it's a " No Brainer "

I have thought for many years that the cost of buying a car, taxing it, insuring it, the cost of petrol/diesel and general servicing and other running costs would equate to a lot of bus/train or taxi fares.
Of course that is if you have access to public transport.

It's an interesting calculation. We're very fortunate to have an excellent local bus service. The local bus fares tended to be on the expensive side, I've visited other cities / towns where they were much cheaper. The introduction of a blanket £2 per journey fare has led to the bus services being far busier with a much wider range of passengers.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

The bus and train fares here are a stupid cost. They keep saying they want people to get out of their cars, but the price of a train or bus ticket here makes it more expensive than using the car, plus the service is awful.
