Loch Rannoch if you don’t mind. You’ll need to learn to pronounce it properly if you’re going to live there, not some Englified version!

If I turn up at the local pub and say that I am here to educate the locals - would i make friends easily???

I seem to remember it wouldn;t have worked too well in North Wales - maybe Scotland is different???

(p.s. sorry - but you know my typing/spelling
I used to be a teacher you know!)

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I have been pottering. I seem to have more chalk paint on my hands than on the item I'm painting . I keep an old jumper to wear as I always end up with paint all over it.

Day three of the kitchen install and the Electrician is back doing first fix. A really competent and helpful guy, nothing seems too much trouble. New 10 way consumer unit is going in, walls being chased and circuits chased as I write.
I " walked " the old gas cooker up the driveway to the edge of our property but the lads who were going to come back haven't shown yet. Mrs Tkk came back from her Gym workout with a Halloumi Shatsuka courtesy of the M+S yellow sticker section. Very tasty and 3 of my five a day according to the label. This was followed by an Eccles cake and I'm drinking coffee and gazing at the biscuit tin 🤔

Various bits'n'bobs:

Latest inflation figures none too clever, and still miles below our personal household figure. Only going to get worse too, imo.

Water meter applied for, subject to survey and takes about 8 weeks before instalation.

By coincidence the electricity smart meter has just been installed and...

... it doesn't work.

They don't connect to WiFi and are dependent on a radio signal which surprise, surprise, we can't get at our house. Dumb mode of connection!

Still exploring moving. Beverley,Yorkshire, seems like a nice place to sound out. We will arrange a few days stay for April/May and check the area out.

Lots of new builds going on there, although we can't realistically buy one until ours is sold and the developers seem to want 28 day exchange of contracts! Crazy!

Bridging loans are expensive, our savings are mainly long-term lock-ins so buying a second home temporarily is not an option.

And p/x schemes are useless as they only want to take a cheaper home in p/x than the one you are buying from them.

Weather here is 100% shite. Wet, cold & claggy.

Treadmill and multi-gym beckon.

Enjoy the rest of your day all.

As far as the 28 days exchange thingy goes - talk to the solicitors and the builders and they can normally sort it out between them

I came across it when I bought a new house and they sorted it out when they were sure I was serious about going through with it
Of course - you still need to sell your - but again, the builders are used to this and have ways round it

Afternoon all. Have spent the day doing not doing a lot. 😀
A bit of shopping , a bit of washing and then went and had my hair cut.

Off volunteering tomorrow morning to finish off some hedge laying so at least i will feel I have done something useful.
Have a good evening everyone.

You are living the dream 😀

I descale outs about every 4 weeks, the symbol pops up on the display and I have to dig out the manual to check the exact procedure. We live in a very hard water area, but we have a water filter jug that we use for topping up the machine. The machine had a built in replaceable water filter but I managed to break that. Don't bother with the proprietary cleaning tablets ( reassuringly expensive) but have a 500g tub of citric acid that works just as well and is far cheaper.

I am not allowed to go near our espresso m/c ( it’s Mrs exlaser domain) so cleaning and descaling are not part of my responsibility.😀.
(Unfortunately Mrs exlaser is not very regular with that part of the procedure. )
But on the other hand cleaning up the kitchen after the filter that holds the coffee has blown of the m/c because of back pressure and covered the place in coffee IS deemed to be part of my responsibility. 😂😀

I've had 5 new houses across the years and the short timescale issue never came up back in the day.

What are these 'ways round it' that you mention, please?

VAT on Private School Fees given as one of reasons for inflation increase. What is that all about?, what proportion of the population pay Private school fees ?
