Good morning. Positively balmy outside with no frost. Well Mrs P's windscreen isn't frozen which seems a good indicator. I banked the stove up last night but not quite enough. I've spent the last hour coaxing it back into life. I started using red briquettes this year which we pick up from the local coal yard. £12/20kg which lasts about 3 days and when it's cold enough to want early morning heat I reckon this is better value than the CH. I've given up foraging for logs; two reasons, it's hard work and I'm worried I might slip carrying bags of logs down from the allotment.

This morning I'm going to stretch etc. then do the housework and ironing that should have been done on Thursday!! Hopefully pick up the new telly this afternoon. I'm pleased! Mrs P came home yesterday afternoon. The conversation went like this:

Mrs P "Did you get the new telly?"
Me: "No, I've found one but thought I should speak to you"
Mrs P: "Why?"
Me: "How much do you think a new TV will cost?
Mrs P: "£800 - £1000?"
Me: "I'll get it tomorrow"

That went a whole lot better than I had expected.

When I was trying to figure out what size TV to get I read a comment from a dealer who said "I have often heard people say 'I wish I'd got a bigger TV but I've never heard anyone say they wish they'd got a smaller one".
I got a 65" and it's great for me.

65” in the living room and 55” in the bedroom. If I ever need to change the living room one, I might go bigger again.

6.5 mile walk done with some climbing. It’s time I was going longer and climbing more. I’ve just been doing the riverside trail lately and it’s pretty flat. My legs and lungs are getting a bit out of shape.

We have 55" in the living room as that was bought for the last house and had to fit next to the chimney breast.

On the one hand I'd like to go bigger, but unless this one dies I shan't be doing so as I don't watch much tv, and all of that is on demand stuff.

Yes, I can see that. 65" wouldn't physically fit. This is about aesthetics and available space. There's only one spot to put the TV which a 42" fills well. A 48" would be 3cm wider on each side. That works. The height though would be 11cm greater. That doesn't work in our little cottage. Squirrel Nutkin book is the extra 11cm height.
