Good Morning. I hope it's less up and down today than yesterday!!!! GRRR. On the positive side yesterday we had a very good u3a committee meeting, Mrs P and I went to see Mark Steel at Chorley Little Theatre (it's not a big place) where I bagged two of the last few tickets to see Miles Jupp in March, then my boys secured an excellent win away at Boro - even if our goal was clearly offside!
On the downside. We arranged a bike ride. At 6.45 there wasn't a hint of frost and 4ā°, by 9.00 the temperature had dropped to -1ā° and frost and ice had formed. This is not unusual at dawn. Ride abandoned. It was of course a beautiful sunny day and 5ā° later.
Then.......a huge problem arose. My son has Supported Living in the Community and shares a house with two other men. They receive 24 hour care and support. Mostly it works very well. For sometime we have been aware the care provider company wished to divest themselves of responsibility for managing the household bank accounts and expenses. The desire is to pass responsibility to the clients. OK we can deal with this. Senior management gave me to understand this would happen late April 2025.
The Sky and utility accounts are in my name on behalf of my son. Yesterday I get phone calls from Sky and Scottish Power saying the direct debits had failed and what was I going to do about this? Some investigation uncovered that the care provider company had cancelled the direct debits and the household account they were paid from is being closed on November 30th. They have left us completely exposed with no back up plan, no notification this was happening and the senior manager who gave me the April 2025 date has laid the blame at the feet of one of the house care workers. I have a mole! I have documents that prove the senior manager new this action would take place in November at the same time as telling me it would be next April. I am absolutely steaming.
This afternoon it is the monthly film club I organise. We will be watching Mrs Harris Goes to Paris.
