Talking of jabs, I read an article yesterday about the shingles vaccine reducing the risk of dementia. The research was made possible due to a decision made by the Welsh NHS many years ago which resulted in two distinct but similar groups.
Here's the article I read, originally published in " Nature "

https://arstechnica.com/science/2025/04/a-bonus-from-the-shingles-vaccine-dementia-protection/

I have also seen reports (including BBC) that taking Statins reduces risk of Dementia. Obviously, not statistically relevant, but, didnt work for Mrs @BoldonLad

I have booked a hair for Monday morning ( £8.50 for O.A.P ) and also new front tyres for the car and a service ( £79.00) for the A service which is just a check of all levels and new pollen filter.
That same service at a Renault dealer is £199 !! Robbing b***** rds!
I also need to have the A/C looked at as it stopped working. The warranty on the car finishes at the end of this month so will check it in before that.

Having watched and enjoyed the 1950's set film " Mrs Harris goes to Paris " on C4 catchup last night, during this morning's run my mind started drifting as usual and I came up with a wonderful idea for the Scottish tourist board. Flip the plot so it's a wealthy Parisian who sees and falls in love with a Tweed jacket and sets off to travel to the Scottish islands where she meets a variety of down to earth locals, get's taken to a ceilidh and waits patiently for the cloth to be woven and her jacket made.
They could call it " Mme Paris goes to Harris "

That's your weekend written off then. Still, better than being dead.

Never had a reaction with either covid or flu vaccination.
Had a covid jab everytime I’ve been offered one and I’ve had a flu jab everytime year for at least the last 30 years.

Not on statins , yet lol . But I have had the conversation with my doctor and had heard about possible sickness. So I did two things . First I asked Mrs exlaser, who has worked in pharmacy for 40 years , no reports of it. Then I asked around my friends of a similar ‘ vintage ‘ most were on statins and none of them reported problems.
So on balance I am more than happy to give them I try when my time comes . Tbh the way my diverticulitis is , I probably wouldn’t notice lol .
