My late mother used to have a bee in her bonnet about weather forecasters saying "as the day guzzon". Can't say it has ever bothered me, but I thought I'd mention it on this thread as some of you might begin to notice it and be annoyed, and thus I can contribute in a small way to your lives becoming worse.

Some would argue they're different: spelled is the past tense and spelt is the past participle.

I guess you take the US approach and use spelled in both instances.
