According to the MetOffice website, the wind this week will be mainly from the east, so if I do the Avon and Kennet, it would make sense to start in London (or more likely Reading, to avoid cycling out through the madness that is London, to a rural boy like me!).

So I checked out rail fares again. I really don't get their pricing policy. Travelling tomorrow from Glasgow to Euston, a second class single is £107.40 . However, if I travel FIRST class, it comes in at a slightly more respectable £86.50 :headshake:. Tempting now....

play with different opitions on the national rail site, which will also give you any Engineering works going on: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ or Transport direct which allows you to check all forms of transport, also will give you car routes: http://www.transportdirect.info/Web2/Home.aspx?repeatingloop=Y

It's all booked up now, so no going back! Train to London tomorrow (booked a return so have to get train back to London from wherever I end up; it was cheapest and most sensible option). £112 off peak return, coming back on Saturday. Booking in sections not really a practical option when taking a bike, as you have to book it at station (can't do it on-line) and the queue behind me was less than impressed as it was.

First night I will be staying at a Travelodge near Heathrow (didn't fancy camping in Hyde Park), from then on it's camping. Which begs another question; whether to take my good Tricross or my beat-up 10 year old Ridgeback Comet. Both have luggage carrying capabilities and would do the job. Would prefer to take the Tricross but I would sleep better in a tent knowing that if my bike gets nicked then it's worth not-a-lot. I will be taking a long thick cable and a good padlock if I do decide on the Tricross.

You'll be on my doorstep at the Travelodge, Brandane.

Which one, the T5 is where I'll be. On the doorstep of my work too, at Saints Transport (although I work out of the Glasgow depot). They have accommodation at work, but I'd rather pay my money and stay at the Travelodge! If you fancy a circuit round the airport tomorrow evening, give us a shout on here. After tonight I won't be on-line until about next Sunday.
