Air con, fair enough, but the windows are likely an easy and cheap fix.
I've had two cars with faulty passenger side windows. The first one I took the panel off and discovered that the fault was that there was no motor. Didn't bother fixing it. The second one had no obvious fault (i.e. the motor was there, the cable was connected and the fuse was good) so I didn't bother doing more. I'd be more determined in fixing the drivers side because otherwise how do you get on in those car parks where you get a ticket as you go in?

A/c repair was £300 ish on mine. Well worth it, for demisting in winter and cooling in summer.

I've had that too. Turned out the handle had fallen off

Both my drivers window and the air con has not worked for about 4 years. I just can't be bothered getting it fixed.

I can't be bothered either, it'll be junked next year or next month if the MOT cost is £200+ Drivers window is a common problem with mk1 Focus's, same with rear arch rust due to the water retaining liners.

There is a 2006 Mazda 6 at a neighbours for £800......

If it's a diesel, run like hell. There seems to be an inordinate amount of them about with knackered engines.

My 'secret' fetish is buying/owning/selling really appalling cars. Today was fabulous...

The A/C has been the only costly things on mine, a holed radiator and an age cracked alloy pipe. But I use it on constant. Only ever had it topped up when things broke - you are supposed to use it constantly anyway.

It's great, and I'd never have a car without it.

Blimey, a Paxo. They used to be everywhere but you don't see them now.

Usually crashed.

Got a great story about my mate and an old car. When we were in out early 20's, he had a 205 GTI in 1.6 flavour. Was quite a nippy car. He kept it a very long time, not particularly looked after. Sold it, and eventually tracked it down again about 3 years ago (20 plus years later). Bought the car back, and had it re-painted and brought back to life. It took over a year as the garage messed him about, then sprayed the bonnet badly, but the engine has been fabulous. It looks really good now, but, my word, weren't 205's small compared to cars now !!!

205s are ace, sadly never had a GTi but owned one or two diesels and base models. Peugeot made some quite dull cars around that era, the 205 seemed to have broken that mould.
The Metro was a similar example, BL had some right rubbish about in 1980/81, most of which just seemed to be very badly warmed up versions of old models (Maxi 2, Ital, Ambassador, etc) but the Metro was incredibly popular at the time.

I had a Rover Metro GTa, 8 valve. My word could it shift, no weight, 1.4. Loved it. Shame it started rusting after 5 years from new, and couldn't stop it (rear arches) and I grew up a bit and had a family, so it had to go.

My son's new bright red Fabia Monte Carlo reminds me and Mrs F of the Rover GTa as it's black and red with spoilers. His car is far safer though, and faster....
