It's made in Vietnam, and quite well for all that, stitched seams, rather than glued, concessions to quality regards the hatband & chinstrap, of inferior plastic over leather, but made with genuine Pith over much cheaper cardboard, but acceptable for a none serious item of apparel

Pith helmets are stil issued to Vietnamese soldiers, in what was part of French Indo-China.

It very well might be one of them my Pith, I wear it for the reasons those little yellow men of Indo- China might, give it a good soaking when it's hot, it cools one head admirably,
Only thing it's not good at is cycling in, the wind or airflow soon flips it off, as it's not really very Aero, but it's not designed for that.

The Vietnamese, generally are very jolly industrious fellows, tend to have different shade of skin to us westerners, mainly an ochre shade,

Even though the French/Vietnamese pith helmet is less eccentric than the British one, If I were to buy one I'd buy the British one and in white not khaki as I'm a fan of our achievements during those British Empire colonial days!🧐 🇬🇧

A question Accy what do you do with your hat when you go in to a cafe, pub or the like. I find it awkward in some places just finding somewhere to put your overcoat. These days few places have coat racks.

I don’t trust coat hooks in restaurants/pubs etc. Coat on back of chair and hat on seat next to me or on my lap. Less than ideal but 🤷‍♂️

This is my point, your nice coat get dragged on the floor or you end up trapping under chair. As for your hat on your lap, you wouldn’t want to be eating with your Fedora on your lap.

Just reminiscing about it brings a tear to my eye!!😥 🧐 🇬🇧

Not much of a choice! Succumbing to the rule of •303 , is very little choice, and the 'enforcer' has to be more than fair, there in the past , have been a number of incidents of they didn't obey, so I gave orders to shoot them.'
Which isn't really fair now.
Something less threatening, like the use of a birch or rubber hoseware on the legs ,isn't so final.

If the hostelry doesn't have suitable cloakroom facilities then don't go there, or wear the hat, which is the height of bad etiquette.

I rarely do pubs or restaurants these days, but when I do I weigh up the clientele and the cleanliness of the place. If it looks like a 5 out of 10 I'll wear nice, but charity shop clothing. If it looks like an 8 or 9 out of 10 I'll go expensive Cordings stuff. I probably wouldn't wear a full length coat no matter what the place scores as like you say, it's a problem finding somewhere to put such a coat. Potential theft of the coat or the contents of the pockets would be a concern. As for a hat, I'd have the same theft concerns, so mmmm, maybe this is why I don't go to pubs or restaurants much, if at all these days. 🤔 🧐

Their cotton and wool mix shirts are fantastic in the winter. Very warm on a cold day. They do look good too.

Plus the don't really need ironing as long as they haven't been tumble dried, which as we know causes severe creasing if left on too long. I've ironed the Viyella shirt I have before and it didn't look any different to before it was ironed. Any slight creases tend to disappear after half an hour of wearing.
