I find the dross that churns out absolutely infuriating. Usually it conveys no useful information, is often inaccurate / misleading and reads like an insultingly crude and blatantly insincere stab at blagging the "buyer" into a purchase.

It reads like a GCSE student's hastily thrown-together-the-night-before marketing project after a day spent huffing solvents.

This rubbish prejudices me against the listing from the off; I'd genuinely rather they left the description field blank rather than filling it with this absolute effluent.

What a load of total horseshit.

Please. Horseshit has uses.

Size 18-23, that's the tubing it's made from dingleberry
I may be wrong but I have a feeling that the Routier is on 27" chromed steel rims too, seem to remember it being touted as a traditional Raleigh not an attempt by Raleigh to use up existing unsold stock and as for that steel crank with alloy crankarms.

I’ll have nothing said about steel chainsets - I have a triple-down-to-double on the front of my everyday hack. I expect it to see me out, and probably the end of human existence.

IIRC the one above is a later version of mine, which came with chromed steel 700C wheels. I think it's basically the same frame as all the other entry-level gaspipe Raleighs of the time; just dressed up to look more like a touring bike (with rack, mudguards etc) versus the more race-styled offerings.. although I think the running gear is all the same (mine has a pressed steel 50/40 chainset and 5sp 14-28 freewheel).

It could be on 700c wheels but they certainly look chrome in the pictures

They probably are; if mine is owt to go by. Again I think all / nearly all entry level efforts from this era came with such rims.

Probably, I think my Super Equipe had steel wheels when I rescued it, I got hold of some earlier Maillard (late 70s) 'wide flange' hubs and had John at Bob Warners lace me some aluminium rims onto them after refurbing and polishing the hubs

Nice work

As you may recall from the thread on my Routier, the original wheels were battered so got rebuilt with some ally rims from a cheapo Chinese bike that was another gift from the streets
