My Toon chums are full of hope today.

I'm going with 2 - 1 in their favour, as has my good lady (a Man Utd fan).

We're also in agreement that they probably had a more realistic chance leading up to the game against her lot 2 years ago, and that each set of fans only getting 32,000 tickets is a bit of a joke.

Great game, and chuffed about the result.

Particularly pleased for Dan Burn to get the opener: a proper local hero.

A good advert for English football too, which the media will either latch onto or totally ignore.

As a Liverpool fan, Newcastle were really up for it while lfc were imo really poor (as they have been in recent weeks.
A short while ago there was lots hype about a possible quadruple. If they don't shape up we could end up with nothing.

The irony of having a wee dig at Newcastle's finances after a post celebrating a Rangers victory is pretty funny...

Ignoring the (fairly cynical) point that everyone buys a trophy in one way or another, Newcastle haven't been chucking money at trying to win one. Far from it, particularly in the Ashley era, and before then (starting from the Premier League era, when as we all know football began) wouldn't even make the top ten in terms of top flight net spend by clubs.

Even following the Saudi takeover they haven't gone bonkers with money on players.

There have been rumours recently that Howe is on his way out in the not too distant future, which I think would be a mistake both for him and the club. Hopefully yesterday's win will put those rumours to bed and he can continue what he's building, which could be something pretty special.

Yup, Newcastle were pumped up, you could see they wanted it. There were times when Salah looked out of sorts, almost bewildered.
Mum would have loved it, a Geordie (well Northumbrian) through and through and loved her sport, Newcastle particually. Shame she never saw it. Really pleased for them.

I'm only having a wind up! :okay: Fair play to Newcastle, they deserve a trophy and were the best team on the day! It was good to see Rangers beat that lot at their own place. Especially on a certain weekend they celebrate the patron saint of their homeland!
