I thought you were illustrating a point, apologies. I'm delighted to hear you are okay, if a bit bashed and I really do hope your personal injury claim every success. Thanks Monty. Frustrating being off the bike, and a bit annoying walking round looking like Napoleon over Christmas, but it could've been worse. I've got a personal injury claim in the pipeline which seems to stand a reasonable chance of success, so my other bit of advice is hang on to CTC/CyclingUK membership, even though the club has gone down the Swanee.
Where does the OP give safety advice in his post ?
It's the hard BMX type so it saved me from a fractured skull as well.
It was a momentary lapse of concentration and I don't have the arrogance to tell other people what to do.Although the OP is asking us to take safety advice from someone who couldn't control his bike on a hill...................
Oooft, that looks sore, take care.Crashed a fortnight ago no idea what happened , one minute I was rolling along at 25mph (according to my Garmin) and moved out towards the centre of the road to pass an approaching runner the next thing I'm on the floor sliding and bouncing the outcome of which was four broken ribs,a punctured lung and a fractured hip socket, fortunately I was wearing a Vulpine thermal winter cap that appears to have a done a great job of protecting my head though my face does look like it has been vigorously rubbed on the course side of a cheese grater . Here.
What's the point of the story, then, if you don't mind my asking? It was a momentary lapse of concentration and I don't have the arrogance to tell other people what to do.

Three weeks ago I was doored by a parked driver and briefly knocked unconscious when my head hit the ground. My head is OK now but I also sustained a broken collarbone in the impact. I was wearing a buff at the time, so I can confirm that the buff saved my life. Get a buff, people!!!!!*
*Or don't, and be resigned to having your brains splattered all over the road. Not to mention cold ears. Do ride well clear of the door zone tho.
To let other people know what happened to me.What's the point of the story, then, if you don't mind my asking?
Now obviously I don't like this, even though I "liked" it, I "liked" it because you're not dead just seriously injured, not that I like you being seriously injured.. oh, hell, you know what I mean...Crashed a fortnight ago no idea what happened , one minute I was rolling along at 25mph (according to my Garmin) and moved out towards the centre of the road to pass an approaching runner the next thing I'm on the floor sliding and bouncing the outcome of which was four broken ribs,a punctured lung and a fractured hip socket, fortunately I was wearing a Vulpine thermal winter cap that appears to have a done a great job of protecting my head though my face does look like it has been vigorously rubbed on the course side of a cheese grater . Thanks Wobblers! I will try the beer thing!Farking hell, Claud! Three weeks - so your shoulder ought to soon be merely painful rather than simply "AAARGH!" I can recommend BEER as an effective pain killer. (I imagine you've already discovered that... ) Heal well.
PS: Would long hair be a good substitute for a buff - it's definitely good on the preventing cold ears front....
