It was a coaching inn, in the early 1800s, & stands on the old alignment of the road, before widening

A very historic village, that has a lot of features that link it to earlier times
There a rather large 'country house' here (Kippax Park) that was demolished, due to mining subsidence
Plus, there was a small castle here, the mound is still visible
