Well, as predicted weather has changed. We went to the pub as it was starting to rain. Got a call from a couple that stayed behind that the awning was going to take off. Hobbled back at double pace on two crutches (about half a mile) and got it down in record time. Told my wife and three of the group to stay in the pub. Usual Shell Island weather, turns quickly and the wind gets up. Hoping it blows over. Forecast has been accurate.

Weather cleared up by about 7pm so we hobbled back to the complex to watch the fireworks. Hobbled back and I went to bed at about 8:30. Hadn't realised I'd done 12,000 steps on crutches (about 5 miles). The rest stayed up till 12ish and were a bit piddled.

I've been up an hour. Sun is just breaking through and it's looking a fine day, if windy.

First cuppa, cheese ham and tomato toasties on the grill.

We weren't cold last night.

Sunday 30th

Spotted whilst walking the last 2 miles, after being dropped on with dog, en-route to my parents house
(the hubcaps match their front door!)
I've seen the side-door open, it appears to be a camper van

Even better afternoon. Pre-booked into Portmeirion camper site. Apparently only it's third season. Do it I'd say.

Complementary access to the outdoor pool at the hotel (heated to 27c) and access to the village and pool both days. Just move van into car park on day two.

MrsF just been swimming, pint in the hotel, back at van, shower, then a walk to the brasserie at the Castle.

We're deffo coming back. £55 sounds expensive but when you have access to the site and facilities. It's about £20 each to get in. Complementary in a camper.

Does sound like a nice place, added to my list for when we‘re back over. Need to show the youngsters the Welsh coast😉

Bugger, had a choice of 2 campsites. Chose the wrong one, because I've been there before
Sitting in the van listening to the trains hurtling past. Knew there was a reason I remembered it
Even the owner looked askance as he said " you've been here before, haven't you?" The question mark was fresh from the 50% off pile.

We've got two Thermarest Mondokings.

Expensive but super comfy. Discovered that one of them (brand new) has a faulty inlet valve. It's not 'one way', so is making topping up the air a little tricky. The carry bag doubles as a quick inflater but due to the valve being faulty, as soon as you try and 'fluff' the bag for air, the airbed deflates before your next attempt. I did blow it up with a battery inflator, but that's not the point when the air bed is £220. I've emailed asking for a replacement as we bought it nearly 60 days ago, but not even opened. The daft thing is, I checked one of them last week, but as you'd have it, not the faulty one. After blowing up and locking the valve, it functioned perfectly. They do deflate and roll up very quickly once you open the 'out' valve.
