That's not a huge bass.

It's a tiny player.

And it sounds soooo ballsy.

Only fault - G is cut a little short, not enough around the capstan so when it tunes ro about F or F#, just short of G it starts to slip and detunes. At first I thought it was a duff tuner, but sussed it in the end. Anderton's are sending me whole new set of strings, so that's a result.

I bought a s/h Strat the other day where not only was there insufficient wrap* on the wound strings, they went the wrong way around the posts so they came out of the nut at a weird angle and the tuners turned the wrong way. The seller was a gigging musician!

*generally, you pull the new string up to the post, ease it back by the distance from the nut to the first fret, then kink it through the post (most tuners) or cut it (Kluson slotted tuners). This gives the correct wrap on every string, since thinner strings need more turns.

So last night as a tip of the hat to the King of Twangy guitar I decided to find a tab for Rebel Rouser, I'm sure if he was watching from on high, he would have had his head in his hands!

Went to PMT to buy a couple of sets of Ernie Balls, went slightly off list...

I'd gone in to buy two sets of Ernie Balls and eyed the Meteora. Had never seen one in the wood before so asked for a go and was very impressed. I'm not normally a fan of active basses but loved it. It's certainly the most comfortable bass I've ever played sitting down.

This one is B stock with some minor marks, so I've ordered a new one in the same for barely any more. That'll be number 15.

I did get my strings. And a new strap. And some novelty Ernie Ball drinks coasters.

Meanwhile down here in Ghana all I can find is a 2016 Squire Jazz. £145, very fair price.

Not bad actually as most the guitars here are fakes like this MM Stingray copy labelled Ibanez. The counterfeiters can't even get it right. I messaged the seller who simply won't have it and insists it genuine, despite they never made a MM copy. Ghanaian mentality I'm afraid, had it before.

My finger slipped and I bought a Gretsch Duo Jet. Sadly not in silver sparkle, but it's the 140th anniversary edition with Filter'Trons and hump block inlays.

Put new Ernie Ball 45-100 nickel rounds on rhe Geddy Lee this morning. A few hours playing in will take the twangy edge off them, so it's become my daily practice steed for thr week.
