I was coming back through Loyat on a very windy ride this afternoon.

A small boy on the pavement spotted me, grabbed his mother's sleeve, pointed at me and said:

"Regarde, Maman - c'est Père Noël" ("look, Mum - it's Father Christmas")

Ho, ho, ho

I had something similar happen to me here (it must have been a French family on a Christmas visit to Todmorden)...

The child called out "Regarde, Maman - un vieux cinglé grincheux portant des bottes jaunes! "

Out today for the first time this year without the winter boots, the Wahoo showed a double digit temp at one point.
Quite a swirly wind, managed to dodge the showers and another point in the bag.

Well, Saturday afternoons in recent weeks have mostly been spent in The Fat Cat in Ipswich (well worth a visit for those who love their real ale), but whether I go for an attempt on the unofficial First To Post depends highly on What Time This Lazy Bugger Gets Up.

I didn’t at all mean who’s chasing the ‘first to post’ label. More is anyone getting the job done and posting on the 1st !

I shall be going out super early. That’s my normal time - not a change of plans to gain some sort of kudos 🙄 Plus for me: this weekends riding buddy has got to be ridden, back, changed and out with his Mrs by 9am 🤣

Weather is currently for slightly foggy here. And I’ve got a Coastal route planned to a final destination that should provide good photo opportunities. Whether (Weather ?) I get to see any of that through the pea-soup remains to be seen. Or not 🤦‍♂️

I planned a hilly 60 miler for yesterday with a couple of friends. Tuesday night I was so tired I baled out and went to bed at 8.45pm!!! The weather changed to cold and wet so that proved a lucky decision.

A bit disappointed as I wanted one more ride for February. My next chance is Sunday when I hope to join a new group. I rode with them once in 2024 and then crashed a few weeks later. This is my first chance since then.

I didn't get to sleep until 04:30 today but I had to get up at 08:00 to go for a blood test so I am tired before even going near a bike!

Still... It is a beautiful sunny day here and I haven't got my February '50' in yet so I'll have a snack and a mug of tea, then hit the hills.

I will probably doze off as soon as I get back!

Well, I rode the route again and it’s about 1100 metres short☹️.
