I've removed several ad hominem posts. Making personal comments is not the same as a reasoned debate so please stop it.

As has been said in another thread, if you want a more robust debate on the referendum there are several discussions already running in the SC&P section.

There is good and bad on both sides of Le Manche. I will take the good with the bad as nowhere is perfect. Just hope the ease of travelling between each country continues as it's only 22 miles away for me.
You must live near my mate, I guess?

He lives in Saltwood, just up the hill from Hythe. You can make out the French coast from the end of his back garden on a clear day.

Don't worry- you just need one of these...^_^

I'm currently travelling back to the uk after a week cycling around bits of Provence. In most of the little market towns or villages, there was a charge for car parking. This included tourist places like Gordes and Rousillon as well as small little places like Malaucene (population 2,600).

So I wouldn't flag up the UK as specifically ripping off motorists.

More importantly, did you do any cycling in the Ardeche? Any recommendations about routes or particular areas? .
It all depends how far you want to ride. For a 45 miles ride I recommend you drive to Vallon Pont D'Arc ( 20 miles from Les Vans) . Leave your car there ( free parking) and ride to St Martin d'Ardeche ( 22 miles) following the Gorges de l'Ardeche. Very twisty road and beautiful scenery including Le Pont d'Arc.
You will be spoiled for choice for rides. There are plenty with many pretty medieval villages on the way.

Thanks, that's useful. I've mapped some rides into the hills to the North and West of Les Vans, but wasn't sure what to do about the Gorges, especially as I assumed it would be very busy with traffic. Your suggested route looks like a good 'un and I would like to ride the Gorges while I'm in the area.
